MIDLAND -- A free Christmas concert with a country twist helped to get people in the holiday spirit on Wednesday night.

The First United Methodist Church in Midland hosted a free Christmas concert with a country tune for the community.

West Texas country acoustic-duo Waco and Julie performed at the new Christmas songs, along with old favorites at the concert.

"You turn on the news and you see these things about car wrecks and different things that are going on and its just kind of sad," Julie Richards of First United Methodist Church told Big 2. "So we do things like this to boast everybody's mood and bring back the true reason for the season."

The First United Methodist Church also handed apple cider for people to enjoy during the concert.
