ODESSA -- Mark Henderson Park had a big ribbon cutting on Saturday, but the whole thing might not have happened without the thoughts of a 14-year old boy.

Brayden Grant was at the park got hurt on a broken slide at the park and the old playground equipment was removed for safety reasons.

Grant then encouraged the city to replace the equipment, providing a fun, safe place for smaller kids to play.

"In anything that you do you have a voice," said Brayden, " and it needs to be heard and people listen."

In this case the city did listen.  New playground equipment was installed and kids got their first chance to try it out at the ribbon-cutting.
