A strong upper level system will cause winds to be very strong today out of the westerly direction. A High Wind Warning is in effect for winds gusting to 75 mph in the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains and to 65 mph elsewhere today.  This has also sparked a Red Flag Warning due to relative humidities dropping below 15%.  The cold front will push through during the afternoon shifting the winds to the northwest.

Cooler air will shuffle behind the front and temperatures to start Thursday will be cold in the upper teens and lower 20s and only warming into the upper 40s and lower 50s under sunny skies.

The cold air will be short lived as we will be back above average for the weekend.

There is no rain in sight and Christmas Day looks to be slightly cooler into the 50s.
