Hobbs, NM Elementary School Locked Down After Reports Of Man With Gun In Neighborhood

HOBBS, NM -- A Hobbs, NM elementary school was locked down briefly on Wednesday, after an alleged armed man entered a nearby neighborhood.

    Hobbs Police say that several children were on a school bus near Southern Heights Elementary School on Wednesday morning when they reportedly saw a man enter a home near the school holding a gun.

    Police locked down the Southern Heights Elementary School briefly while they searched the area for the man.

    However, police weren't able to find the man.

    Officers lifted the lockdown when they determined that the school was no longer in danger.

    Hobbs Police say that additional officers were sent to the area near the school after the incident.
