BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK -- A border crossing in Big Bend National Park will soon be opening.

Customs and Border Protection officials say that the Boquillas Port-of-Entry will open 30 days after the Department of Homeland Security publishes a final ruling approving the crossing.

A final ruling has already been submitted to the Department of Homeland Security for publication.

Once open, the new border crossing will allow people to travel between the United States and Mexico through Big Bend National Park.

Travelers will be able to make the crossing by boat or by swimming across the Rio Grande.

The Boquillas Port-of-Entry will have state of the art technology.

The Boquillas Port-of-Entry will be the only border crossing facility between Presidio and Del Rio.
