UPDATE: The City of Midland says cell phone routing was restored for the 911 system at about 3:30 a.m. Monday.

MIDLAND -- The City of Midland is experiencing 9-11 technical difficulties.

Here's the full press release from The City of Midland:
The City of Midland Public Safety Communications Center is urging citizens to call 685-7110 if they receive a busy tone when calling 911 from a cell phone.

The phone company that routes cell phone calls to the 911 circuits is currently experiencing technical difficulties with 911 calls from cell phones. Only one cell phone call is going through at a time, causing subsequent callers to receive a busy signal. Those receiving a busy signal are urged to hang up and call 685-7110.

The cause of the issue is still being investigated, and there is currently no estimate as to when the problem will be fixed. Calls from landline phones are not being affected.
