"We're still searching the fields around Moss and the North Service Road of I-20," said Odessa Police Captain Jesse Duarte. "We're going to postpone it until the weather gets a little bit better."
Based off information from Sanchez's confessed killer, 26 year-old Jesus Venegas, detectives came out to the abandoned fields off Interstate 20 and Moss Avenue.
"It was West Odessa so there's a lot of abandoned roads, and a lot of construction's been done in four years," stated Duarte. "So that's also it a little more difficult for us."
Using a grid search, the team scoured the region Tuesday morning, until the rain and fog made the search too difficult.
Although no remains were found, Captain Duarte tells Big2 he's sure they've come to the right place.
"We're confident," said Duarte. "It's just trying to search a large area to try to locate the remains."
Officers say they hope to pick the search back up by Thursday, and for the sake of Sanchez's family, put this case to rest.
"They (Sanchez's family) feel good because they've gotten some type of closure, but we're keeping in touch with them as things go," said Duarte.
