UPDATE: Weather Conditions to Blame for Semi-Truck Accidents on I-20

Accident #1 Time: 0636 hours

Interstate and Grant Ave. The driver of a 2009 Kenworth was traveling east bound on I-20 when its trailer began to slide. As the driver tried to correct it he lost control and the truck skidded off the roadway onto the median. The truck tractor struck the guardrail and skidded onto the north embankment causing the truck (not trailer) to roll on its side. The driver was not injured. No citation issued.

Interstate and Grandview Ave
The driver of a 2001 Freight liner was traveling westbound on Interstate 20. Vehicles ahead of the truck had slowed down due to the accident at I-20 and Grant Ave. The truck tractor had to brake hard in order to avoid colliding with vehicles ahead of him. This caused the truck to jack knife. The accident caused the vehicle to block both lanes of westbound traffic. The driver was not injured. Police on the scene and westbound lanes are closed and traffic is being diverted to Parkway.




UPDATE : This from Odessa Police Department:

Preliminary information concerning the accident at I-20 and Grant Ave revealed that the driver of the truck-tractor was traveling east bound on I-20 when it skidded off the roadway to median. The truck tractor struck the guardrail and and skidded onto the north embankment and rolled on its side. The driver was not injured.

The second truck-tractor was traveling east bound on I-20 when it jack-knifed on top of the bridge. It did not rollover. This caused the truck tractor to block both east bound lanes. The driver was not injured.

Officers and TxDOT are on the scene. Motorist are asked to slow their speed and avoid the area if at all possible.



ODESSA -- Wet roads possibly to blame for a semi-truck accident. 

OPD says a semi-truck jackknifed off a road bridge.  This happening on I-20 near S. Grant in Odessa.  We're told the driver is said to be okay. 

Traffic is being diverted off I-20 onto JBS Parkway.
