PERMAIN BASIN-- In light of all the recent events involving guns this past month, the price of ammunition has sky-rocked across the country.

Most of the gun shop owners from Midland and Odessa are staying pretty tight lipped about this ordeal.

Still, the price of ammunition has risen this past month, and many ammo shelves are completely bare, after customers rushed in to load up on supplies.

We asked about these trends on the Big2 Facebook page and these are some of the responses we got:

Shelly Simmons Jones wrote, "I've been to several and they are all out or restricting how much you can buy!!!"

Jaret Burkett replied, "The only ammo available that I can find at the online shops I normally go to is the high end expensive stuff or complete junk, if they have any at all. One thing that all the gun control advocates are doing very successfully is selling a lot of guns and ammo."

We reached out to both the Odessa and Midland Police Departments to see how they're handling the ammo shortage, and they both tell us that they buy in bulk from distributors who specialize in selling to law enforcement agencies.

So as of now, they're not noticing any changes.
