T.P.W.D. has already cut costs by laying off staff and reducing park operating hours.
The department says that the additional $18.9 million in funding is necessary to keep it's 95 parks -- such as the Big Spring State Park -- open.
T.P.W.D. says it doesn't have a list of potential park closings yet, since it's so early in the legislative process.
T.P.W.D. maintains 625,000 acres of forests, prairies, mountains, deserts and beaches within its parks.
