Sheriff Mark Donaldson with the Ector County Sheriff's office says the person who placed that call told them a man had fallen and struck his head on railroad ties.
When deputies arrived on scene, however, they found that there had been some kind of party with large amounts of alcohol. That's when they started interviewing witnesses.
Deputies later determined that Caden James Hall had not fallen, and that he was actually run over by a vehicle.
The driver of that vehicle was 25-year-old Brent Green -- a good friend of Hall's. They were at the house party to mourn the loss of another of their friends who had died earlier in the week after a long battle with medical issues.
"The investigation determined that the suspect who's in custody was out in his vehicle pick up on the property driving around doing doughnuts and apparently at some point hit the victim" said Sheriff Donaldson.
Green was then arrested and booked for manslaughter on Tuesday night. Sheriff Donaldson also adds that Green was intoxicated at the time and was then taken into custody.
Hall was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where he was later pronounced dead. His body has been taken to Tarrant County for an autopsy.
The investigation is still on-going as of Wednesday evening.
Sheriff Donaldson encourages anyone who may have been at that party on Tuesday night to contact the Ector County Sheriff's office at 335-3050.
