The 68-NURSE program has seen a large increase in callers with flu-like symptoms asking whether they should go to the emergency room.
The Midland Fire Department has also been sending an increased number of ambulances to pick up people with flu-like symptoms.
The extra calls are stretching M.F.D. crews thin.
Now, 68-NURSE and M.F.D. are teaming up to help people get the care that's right for them, which in many cases may not be the emergency room.
Most cases of flu are not an emergency, and a health clinic can help people battling the virus.
