Former Reality Show Contestant Opening Restaurant Here In The Permian Basin

ODESSA -- Virginia Dalbeck is a chef and co-owner of one of the next restaurants here in the Permian Basin.
The Cork and Pig is currently under construction in the Parks Legado Town Center, but Dalbeck promises when they open they'll offer something different to the area.
"Something a little nicer. Nothing too pretentious or 5-star, but someplace where you can wear those new heels you bought in Dallas, and you're dying to wear to dinner," Dalbeck said.
Dalbeck, a trained chef, is opening her second location of the Cork and Pig but she has already seen national prominence.
"I was on Hell's Kitchen. I was a runner-up back in 2005 and yeah, that was a lot of fun," Dalbeck said.
So, what we wanted to know, along with several others: is Chef Gordon Ramsay the same off camera, as he is on camera?
According to Dalbeck, he is just as mean off camera. She said he uses that tactic to see who will stand and who will fall against the pressure of the cooking industry.
She did say that she was able to take away valuable lessons from her appearance on the show.
The Cork and Pig is set to open in late February, and some of the features include a Silo Room, a wrap-around bar, a wood burning pizza oven and seating for 100 inside and out.
Dalbeck just hopes the location will be a fun, comfortable place that will keep people coming back for a long time.
"Cork and Pig Tavern just wants to add something to the area. We don't want to think we're the best at anything. We just want to provide people with a good time and a good experience and go from there," Dalbeck said.
Chef Dalbeck describes her restaurant as 'wine-swine-and-dine' with gourmet food and a manicured wine list that will fit anyone's tastes.
