KERMIT -- Kermit police involved in an officer involved shooting.

The incident taking place just before 10:00PM Thursday.  We are getting hearing mixed accounts about what happened from witnesses, but a source close to the victim's family say the shooting happened near the intersection of Robinson and W. Halley.  Our source says the victim who was shot was Chad Weaver.

Apparently, the incident started out as a traffic stop.  During the stop, that's when shots were fired, but it unknown what caused the officer to allegedly shoot. The Winkler County Sheriff's Department was called out to assist the Kermit Police Department.

The Texas Rangers have also been called out the investigate this officer involved shooting.
