41 Felony Indictments Returned In Pecos County

FORT STOCKTON -- Rod Ponton's first month in office as 83rd District Attorney has culminated with a large number of felony criminal indictments.

    The 83rd District Attorney's Office reports that a Pecos County grand jury returned 41 felony indictments Monday.

    The indictments were for the following charges (with number indicted in parenthesis):

Burglary of a building (11)
Burglary of a habitation (7)
Possession of a controlled substance (6)
Theft (5)
Forgery (3)
Assault (2)
Evading arrest (2)
Sexual assault (1)
Child abandonment (1)


    A Pecos County grand jury returned 23 felony indictments in early January.

    A Presidio County grand jury followed suit by returning 10 felony indictments.

    A total of 74 felony indictments have been returned during Ponton's first month in office.
