LUBBOCK -- A man who was critically injured in an officer-involved-shooting in Kermit has now been arrested.

Texas Rangers tell Big 2 that Nicholas Chad Weaver was arrested after he was released from University Medical Center in Lubbock on January 27th.

Weaver, 31, is charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer.

Weaver reportedly got into a scuffle with Kermit Police officer Donnie Jower during a traffic stop near the intersection of Robinson Street and West Halley Street in Kermit on the evening of January 24th.

Jower reportedly shot Weaver during the scuffle.

Weaver was airlifted to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa after the incident, and he was later airlifted to U.M.C. in Lubbock for surgery.

Weaver later recovered from his serious injuries.

Jower was reportedly treated for a head injury and facial bruising after the incident.

Weaver was being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Monday, as he awaited transfer back to Winkler County.

The Texas Rangers are investigating what led to the shooting.
