Next week, people from all across the country will go to the White House to meet with the President and receive the 2012 Presidential Citizens Medal.
It's the second highest civilian honor.
President Obama is also planning to posthumously award medals to the six educators killed in the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting massacre.
The President said their selflessness and courage should inspire us all.
The Presidential Citizens Medal was first established in 1969 to honor Americans who have exemplary deeds of service.
