ODESSA -- Medical Center Hospital has teamed up with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to create a new rest area for students working in the hospital.

The two health organizations opened a bunkhouse on the third floor of Medical Center Hospital on Monday.

M.C.H. currently serves as a teaching hospital for students

However, more students coming to the Texas Tech medical program -- and those students need a place to stay.

The new bunkhouse -- which has beds, an exercise area and computers -- will allow students catch their breath in between the rigors of medical school.

"It gives them space so when they're on call they have a place to rest," Medical Center Hospital Chief Executive Officer Bill Webster told Big 2. "They can come study, they can come catch up on charting. Those kind of things, so that's really what this space is for."

The bunkhouse was paid for by a patient and spouse through the M.C.H.S. Foundation.
