TXDOT workers will be fog sealing the southernmost 4 miles of F.M. 1788 in Midland and Upton Counties from February 12th to February 15th (weather permitting).
The work -- which will only will take place between the southern end of F.M. 1788 in Upton County and F.M. 1788's intersection with F.M. 1787 in southern Midland County -- will only be performed during the daytime hours.
The road be limited to one lane for both directions as crews perform the work.
Flag crews will be set up at both ends of the work zone to stop traffic entirely, and traffic in alternating directions will follow a pilot vehicle through the zone.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible, since there will be substantial delays.
The project is designed to seal small cracks in the road surface.
Fog sealing work prevents the cracks from getting larger, which would allow moisture to seep into the base of the road.
TXDOT crews say that the project will prolong both the life of the road and the life of the asphalt.
