LAMESA -- The top two officials at Lamesa I.S.D. have stepped down.

Lamesa I.S.D. Assistant Superintendent Chris Riggins tells Big 2 that interim Lamesa I.S.D. Superintendent Cliff Stephens and Lamesa I.S.D. School Board President Tracy Harris resigned on February 8th.

Stephens and Harris didn't give a reason for their resignations.

However, The Lamesa Press-Reporter states that the moves came less than 18 hours after the Lamesa I.S.D. School Board started to focus on an unnamed district employee as the frontrunner for the superintendent position.

District officials say that they still  haven't picked anyone for the superintendent position.
