Man's Body Found In Pecos River In Carlsbad, NM

CARLSBAD, NM -- A man is found dead in the Pecos River in Carlsbad, NM.

    Carlsbad Police say that someone found a Hispanic man's body in the Pecos River, below the Tansill Dam, around 4:25 PM on February 12th.

    The body appeared to have been in the water for a long time.

    The body was moved to a wooded area near a homeless encampment on the east side of the river before police were notified.

    Police believe the man was homeless, and they add that he had likely been to the encampment in the past.

    The man also appeared to have been in his late 30's..

    Carlsbad Police detectives have secured the area for processing, and they continued to investigate the incident Wednesday.
