ODESSA -- An Odessa man is accused of hitting another man in the face with a beer bottle.

Michael Gomez was arrested around 3:40 PM on February 13th.

Odessa Police say that Gomez, 49, got into an argument near the intersection of West 6th Street and North Belmont Avenue around 3:30 PM on February 13th.

The confrontation soon turned physical, and officers say that the 49-year-old victim fell to the ground during the melee.

As witnesses to the fight were helping the man get up, police say Gomez hit in in the head with a beer bottle.

The victim was treated for head lacerations at Medical Center Hospital after the attack.

Officers arrested Gomez at the scene of the fight.

Now, Gomez is charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 2 counts of public intoxication.

As of Tuesday evening, Gomez was being held in the Ector County Law Enforcement Center without a posted bond.
