Steve Dennis was born in Gail in 1942, heading to Texas Tech in the 1960's.  While there, he earned a masters degree, and also served in the Army ROTC.
   
It was after graduating that he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and went to Vietnam in 1971.
   
During his year overseas he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, a Bronze Star and more.
   
After leaving the military he married Nancy Webster, and had a son, Bert Patrick Dennis.
