Lamesa I.S.D. Names Finalist For Superintendent Position

LAMESA -- The Lamesa High School principal is set to be the Lamesa I.S.D.'s next superintendent.
Lamesa I.S.D. officials tell Big 2 that board members named John Ramos as the lone finalist for the district's superintendent position during their February 18th meeting.
Ramos is expected to be formally hired at the next Lamesa I.S.D. board meeting on March 19th.
The month-long delay in the hiring process is meant to satisfy a Texas law that requires districts to wait 21 days after the naming of superintendent finalists before formally voting on them.
Ramos is a Lamesa native who graduated from Lamesa High School in 1995.
The naming of Ramos as a finalist for the Lamesa I.S.D. Superintendent comes during some tumultuous times for Lamesa I.S.D.
Lamesa High School Athletic Trainer Ray "Doc" McCall was recently suspended with pay for posting a racial comment on a school blog.
Interim Lamesa I.S.D. Superintendent Cliff Stephens and former Lamesa I.S.D. Board President Tracy Harris also resigned abruptly on February 8th.
