Andrews Woman Indicted For Capital Murder of 15-Month-Old Child

ANDREWS---The grand jury for Andrews County issued an indictment against Mandi Joy McDaniel for one count of Capital Murder and another count of Felony Murder of 15-month-old, Zula Grey Johnson. 

According to the Andrews County Sheriff's Office, on February 20th, the grand jury for Andrews County met to look over facts surrounding the death of Johnson which took place on December 13th, 2012 in Andrews County. 

According to the indictment, McDaniel faces one count for capital murder for intentionally or knowingly causing the death of Johnson by "striking the head with or against a hard or soft object".
 
Big 2 reached out to the Andrews County Sheriff's Office for a comment and they said that they will not comment on cases that have pending litigation. 

Big 2 also reached out to County Attorney, Timothy J. Mason and he issued the following statement: 

"This is the first step in the process of seeking justice for the child and her family and I can assure you that this office working with law enforcement will take all steps necessary to effectively and efficiently prosecute this individual to the fullest extent of the law."
As of Thursday evening, McDaniel is behind bars in the Andrews County Jail on $65,0000 bond.
