Drew Peterson will spend the next 38 years in prison for the 2004 drowning of his ex-wife Kathleen Savio.

The 59 year-old came under suspicion after his fourth wife Stacy Peterson disappeared.

The former Bolingbrook police officer faced up to 60 years behind bars.

The judge presiding over Peterson's sentence says he took into consideration Peterson's years in the military and as a police officer.

Peterson, who did not testify during the trial, made an emotional plea to the judge saying rumors, lies and unreliable hearsay had led to his conviction.
