Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Children On Trial In Dawson County

LAMESA -- A trial against a man accused of sexually assaulting multiple young girls is underway in Dawson County.

    John Martinez is charged with one count of sexual abuse of a young child or children, one count of aggravated sexual assault, and eight counts of indecency with a child.

    According to The Lamesa Press-Reporter, Martinez, 67, is accused of sexually assaulting a girl (who was under the age of 14) multiple times between 2009 and July 2012.

    Martinez also allegedly sexually assaulted another girl (who was under the age of 14) in 2012, and he's accused of having sexual content with yet another girl (who was under the age of 17) in July 2012.

    Jury selection for the trial -- which is being held in the 106th District Court -- took place on February 22nd.
