MIDLAND -- Midland County Fire Marshal Dale Little has been honored for his work in Midland County.

Little was nominated for the Emergency Management Coordinator of the Year award from the Emergency Management of Texas organization.

Little said he was thrilled just to get the nomination.

Little also won the award itself at a conference in San Marcos last week.

"It makes me feel great to get it," Little told Big 2. "I couldn't do it without the help of all the people we've got here. And actually this award is for all the people we've got working at it."

In addition to his duties as Midland County Fire Marshal, Little also manages the emergency response to man-made and natural disaster.

Little was front-and-center during the record wildfire season of 2011, and he has dealt with other crises in the Permian Basin as well.
