MIDLAND -- Lee Wise, Captain with the Midland Fire Department, passed away this past Saturday surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at Stonegate Fellowship, and will be officiated by Chris Hale, Texas Association of Firefighters Chaplain.

Lee was always there for people in every capacity. He was known for his leadership, generosity, and compassion. In his profession, he defined the phrase "first in, last out!" Lee has bestowed upon us the importance and true meaning of the words brotherhood, sacrifice, and unity, and has left a living legacy.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1959, in Midland, to Robert Lee Wise, Sr. and Beverly Fisher. He married Sue Brittain on May 19, 1984, in Midland.  Lee is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughter, Sara; his parents, Robert Lee Sr. and Beverly Wise; his granddaughter, Cayden Savage, all of Midland; his sister, Mary Ann Wise of Austin; and two nephews, Casey Billingsley and Keith Brittain.

The family suggests memorials to be made to PFAM Benevolence, 602 N. Baird Ste 207, Midland, Texas, 79701. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at www.npwelch.com.
