MIDLAND -- Three Midlanders are accused of trying to steal copper wire and tubing from a shuttered department store.

Marshall Ray Woolis, Marshall Wayne Dillion Woolis and P.J. Russell Proctor were arrested on February 26th.

Midland Police say that the 3 men broke into the old K-Mart location in the 300 block of Midland Drive around 7 PM on February 26th.

A passerby reportedly noticed that Marshall Ray Woolis, 44, Marshall Wayne Woolis, 17 and Proctor, 26, were sitting in a parked car near a garage at the abandoned building, and that person reportedly tipped off police.

Officers rushed to the scene, and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter assisted in the search for the men.

Police eventually found the 3 men on the roof of the building.

The men had reportedly reached the roof through the building's caved in ceiling.

Police say the three men were trying to strip the building of copper materials before they were arrested.

Now, all 3 men are charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and burglary of a building.

As of Wednesday evening, all 3 men were being held in the Midland County Detention Center on $25,000 bond apiece.
