ECTOR COUNTY -- A Fort Stockton man is killed in a head-on collision near Odessa.

The crash happened along West Loop 338 north of West 87th Street around 5:15 AM Tuesday.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers say that Jesus Nahum Rivera of Fort Stockton was heading north on Loop 338 in a 2002 Chevrolet Cobalt when the vehicle drifted into the southbound lane of the road.

An oncoming 2007 International truck tractor that was towing a J&L trailer hit the Cobalt head-on.

Rivera, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:35 AM Tuesday.

Troopers say that Rivera wasn't wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the big rig -- Warren Hardy of Andrews -- wasn't injured in the crash.
