The U.S. Department of Justice District of New Mexico gave agents of the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force, special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigations and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration an award for their work on "Operation Chingobling."
U.S. Attorney Kenneth Gonzales formally presented the award on February 28th.
Agents working on "Operation Chingobling" teamed up over a 5 month period to seize 16 pounds of methamphetamine and more than $80,000 cash.
The seized drugs had been slated to be distributed in Carlsbad, Artesia and nearby areas before the agents grabbed it.
"Operation Chingobling" began with Roswell F.B.I. agents and Pecos Valley Drug Task Force Agents, but the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (O.C.D.E.T.F.) Strike Force of Las Cruces, NM quickly joined the investigation.
The agents' hard work led to 22 federal convictions of drug traffickers.
