Howard County was one of 32 Texas counties that received a combined $406,101 from the U.S. Department of Labor on Monday to help recover from wildfire damage.
The funding represents the third segment of a $1,423,992 National Emergency Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor to the Texas Workforce Commission on October 14, 2011.
All 32 counties receiving the grant -- including Howard County -- were declared eligible for the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Public Assistance Program.
