ALPINE -- The political upheaval continues in Alpine.

Alpine City Manager Chuy Garcia narrowly held on to his job after an extended executive session during the Alpine City Council meeting on March 12th.

Garcia had come under fire after several Alpine employees recently took cash advances.

The employees all kept their jobs, but they were ordered to immediately pay back the funds taken.

Meanwhile, The Big Bend Sentinel reports that Garcia was told to get a better hold on Alpine's finances.

However, Councilman Carlos Lujan felt that the reprimand wasn't strong enough, and he pushed for other council members to remove Garcia from office.

Other council members didn't follow Lujan's lead, and Garcia was able to keep his job.

Lujan is also seeking to have Alpine Mayor Dr. Avinash Rangra removed from office due to alleged corruption.
