State Rep. Naomi Gonzalez, D-El Paso, was arrested by Austin police on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and booked into Travis County Jail early Thursday morning, according to Travis County public records.

A staff member at the legislator's office said that the matter was personal and that the office had no comment.

KEYE News in Austin reported that Gonzalez, 34, was driving a BMW at Congress Avenue and Barton Springs Road in Austin when she hit another vehicle, which in turn hit a bicyclist.

Gonzalez is serving her second term in the Texas House. She defeated former state Rep. Norma Chavez, D-El Paso, in 2010.
