Those were the feelings going through the mind of Ashlye Bartlett when she heard that her daughters dog had allegedly bitten someone. As soon as she heard she rushed to her daughters home, and was stunned to see how many police officers and animal control were already there.
The initial report was that a boy had been bitten by a Pit Bull, but even police couldn't prove that the boy had been bitten. The child did have a wound, but it wasn't clearly distinguishable as a bite, and the child's family declined medical treatment.
Ashlye says her family saw something different happen. She says that some kids were playing in front of the house, and the dog was able to come outside and check it out. The kids began to run, and one child fell over. That's when they say the pit bull walked over and licked the child.
They worry that this may be an overreaction -- in part because of the pit bull attack that happened earlier this week in West Odessa.
Now the dog will remain in quarantine for 10 days, which is protocol. Animal Control has told the family that the dog has been incredibly pleasant, and that they believe the animal should be returned after that mandated time has passed.
