Carlsbad, NM Man Killed In Oilfield Accident In Culberson County

CULBERSON COUNTY -- A Carlsbad, NM oilfield worker is killed in an oilfield accident in Culberson County.

    The fatal accident happened on a Patriot Drilling rig about 7 miles off of U.S. 285 in northeastern Culberson County (near the Texas-New Mexico state line) on March 18th.

    Culberson County Sheriff Oscar Carrillo tells Big 2 that a steel casing pipe came off a chain and pinned Brian Scott Callicoat to the rig.

    Callicoat, 22, was crushed to death in the accident.

    Callicoat -- who's from Carlsbad, NM -- was pronounced dead at the scene.
