ODESSA -- Texas Department of Public Safety troopers have identified the victim of a fatal crash between Midland and Odessa.

The fatal wreck happened around 4:50 PM on March 21st along Business 20 at the border of Midland and Ector Counties.

D.P.S. troopers tell Big 2 that Darryl Umpelby was heading east on Business 20 in a 1989 Chevrolet Suburban when the vehicle went off the road towards the right shoulder.

Umpelby, 42, overcorrected -- and the Suburban crossed both the eastbound lanes of Business 20 and the median before colliding with a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the westbound lanes of Business 20.

Umpelby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say that Umpelby wasn't wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Jeep -- Hector Pinon of Midland -- and a passenger in the Chevrolet -- Jared Tucker of Portales, NM -- were rushed to Medical Center Hospital with critical injuries after the wreck.

As of Friday evening, both Pinon and Tucker were listed in serious condition at M.C.H.
