The deep water Horizon oil rig explosion has brought to light the risky trade-off in the energy industry's push to drill in ever deeper waters searching for massive oil deposits. It's a risk some people were worried about when it started, and one that a former Odessa Omerican oil and gas editor says was never taken seriously.
