As a way to celebrate the day, UTPB Art Professor, Chris Stanley will mark the summer solstice at the campuses Stonehenge. The event starts at 6:45 in the morning, giving viewers the opportunity to see the sun rising earlier.
For centuries, the summer solstice represented planting and harvesting of the crops and it was also the traditional month for weddings.
It's the longest day because the earth's North Pole is tilted closest to the sun, causing the sun to rise earlier and set later in the day.
