It looks like Midland County residents will finally be filing a lawsuit against the people they say are responsible for contaminating their drinking water with Hexavalent Chromium. Big 2 has learned Erin Brockovich and some of her colleagues will soon be back in town. They’re planning on holding a meeting on July 20, where Brockovich is expected to announce they’re officially filing a lawsuit against Schlumberger. The toxic plume was found a little over a year ago.

"The water from what I can tell has gotten worse," said Midland County resident Lesia Laing.

"We are up to 580 parts per million, where we started at 380 parts per million last year," said resident Kay Sathrie.

Sathrie also said her filtration system doesn't treat the water like it’s supposed to. She showed Big 2 how her filtered water pours out blue.

Laing lives down the street from Sathrie. Laing said she has also seen the chromium leak through her filtration system.

"It's pretty annoying because we don't know how safe it is," she said.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said they didn't want to comment tonight on the progress of the contamination. But they did tell Big 2 that their data shows the filters they've installed are working properly.
