An airplane crash in alpine early this morning killed five people. According to Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson, it was a medical airplane that crashed and it was intended to bring a patient from Alpine to Odessa.

Just after Midnight, the Sheriff's Department got a call from a witness that said an airplane had hit the ground.  When deputies arrived they found the plane upside down and engulfed with flames. Before firefighters arrived the plane exploded several times. All five passengers in the plane were pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS released the names of the victims:
    Ted Caffarel from Beaumont
    Sharon Falkner  from Fort Davis
    Tracy Chambers from Alpine
    Guy Richard Folger from Midland
    Mary Folger from Midland

Sheriff Dodson believes Mary Folger was the patient on the plane.

Both the FAA and the NTSB are investigating what happened.
