Midland police are able to get a wanted fugitive to surrender without incident after a two hour standoff.
It started just before 5 o'clock Wednesday night when MPD received a tip that Lorenzo Miguel Jennings, 22, was at the Renaissance apartments at the corner of Neely and Midland Drive. He was wanted on 2 counts of burglary with intent to commit assault, one count of injury to a child and another count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
"Knowing that Mr. Jennings has a propensity for violence our tacticle team and negotiators were called out. At that point, we tried to set up communication with Mr. Jennings," says MPD Sgt. David Garcia.
After a while, Sgt. Garcia says they were able to establish communication by using a bull horn. He eventually started to speak with authorities, but they did have to use a chemical agent to get him to come outside.
He was arrested without incident. No one was hurt.
