LAKE LBJ -- One person was killed and other had to be transported to the hospital after a boating accident just after midnight Sunday morning on Lake LBJ.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said that the boat had hit a granite outcropping near a boat ramp around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The four boaters were transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge.

Karah Brooks, 23, was pronounced dead. The other three: driver James Bradley Murdock, 33; Michela Murdock, 32; and Trey Harper, 32; all were said to have non-life-threatening injuries. All four were from Midland.

The boat had to be removed from the ramp with a crane, a TPWD spokesperson said. Although they say the lake has no boat speed limit at the time of night, it is recommended that boaters only travel at 20 miles per hour after dark.

TPWD and the Lower Colorado River Authority are still investigating the incident.
