The 14th Amendment has guaranteed citizenship to anyone born in the United States of American since the Civil War. But now, a Texas senator is joining the ranks of those in Washington who think the policy should be reconsidered.
Sen. John Cornyn (R) feels that so-called "birthright citizenship" should be reviewed because of the high number of babies born to illegal immigrants.
Some have called such children "anchor babies" because they can sponsor their parents for citizenship.
Many prominent Republicans are asking for a change to the amendment, or at least a review of the policy. Lindsay Graham (SC) proposed changing the policy, and Mitch McConnell (KY) Jon Kyl (AZ) have also supported it.
