The City Council had a public hearing Tuesday morning. About 10 people asked them to keep the tax rate down at the meeting.
The proposed property tax increase would rise about 2 cents per 100 dollar valuation if approved. The city says it needs the increase to maintain services.
There will be another public hearing on August 17th, and a first vote is expected soon.
