MISD Press Release: In May 2010, the Midland Independent School District finance department discovered possible accounting irregularities in financial transactions at Midland Freshman School during the 2009-2010 school year. As a result of the initial investigation findings, a full scale investigation of all transactions from that campus was launched.

Following the full investigation, the district concluded that the issue should be referred to the Midland Police Department for an official criminal investigation.  The MISD in auditor has found possible evidence that the former Midland Freshman secretary could be responsible for the misappropriation of funds totaling more than sixty thousand dollars.

The district is also reviewing all procedures that deal with campus activity accounts. Specific recommendations will be put in place immediately to assure compliance with these measures. Internal procedures must be strictly adhered to and closely moninitored, otherwise opportunities for fraud exist.

Midland ISD is working closely and fully cooperating with local law enforcement.

Big 2 News will speak with new MISD Superintendent Dr. Ryder Warren Wednesday morning for the latest updates.
