There are two measures on the November ballot that would allow the sale of alcohol in Andrews County. But, Andrews schools are taking steps in case those measures pass.
Right now, the law prevents the sale of alcohol within 300 feet of a school. Under Texas law that can be extended to up to 1,000 feet, and the district will ask the Andrews City Council to extend those boundaries if the measures pass.
One issue would allow the sale of beer and wine from local stores, the other allows alcohol sales in restaurants.
