Unfortunately, even in times of disaster, there are people who try to rip-off the organizations trying to do good.

The local American Red Cross of the Southwest is alerting the public about a possible scam going on. Apparently, individuals are pretending to be associated with the Red Cross and getting people in the community to give them money. Their doing this by sending out fake emails or knocking door-to-door.

The Red Cross wants to remind people about the safe ways to donate to them; which are in person at the local chapter, at a special red cross event and by phone or email when you contact them.

If you feel like you've been a victim of this scam notify the red cross immediately at 432.563.2267.
