A Fort Stockton murder trial ended before it began Monday.

David Michael Meyers plead guilty to capital murder charges Monday morning.

At that time, the judge sentenced Meyers to life without parole. The death penalty was taken off the table because Meyers had a documented history of mental issues.

Meyers was in Sonora because there had been a change of venue in the case, due to pre-trial attention the case received.

Meyers is accused of killing Drew Slater at his Fort Stockton home back in October of 2008. Slater's truck was also missing, and police say they arrested Meyers in that truck the next day in Midland.
